Mieras Family Shoes has been fitting Grand Rapids since 1922. It started as a small shoe repair shop in the home of John Mieras. On October 16, 1929 — the day after John had a stroke, and a week before the stock market crash — his 19-year-old son Neil Mieras took over the store. Many shoe stores closed in the years that followed. Mieras stayed open, selling shoes for 25 cents a pair.
Four generations later, we're still doing the same thing: helping people find shoes that actually fit and actually last.
We carry everyday shoes, work boots, and comfort footwear for men, women, and kids — over 50 brands including Birkenstock, ECCO, HOKA, Brooks, Teva, New Balance, Keen, SOREL, and Merrell. For work and safety footwear, we carry Carolina, Thorogood, Timberland PRO, Dr. Martens Industrial, KEEN Utility and more. We also stock a selection of American and union-made footwear. Whether it's a job site or just everyday life, we've got something built for it.
We have two locations: Mieras Family Shoes at 841 Leonard St NW, and Mieras Work & Comfort at 409 44th St SW. We also bring the store to you — our 4 shoemobiles visit worksites across Western Michigan so crews can get properly fitted work boots without leaving the job.
